Top Comedy Movies of the Decade

Well I grew up in the 90′s and I know comedy movies back then were a lot different than some of the top comedy movies of the decade. The genre has changed and so has the sense of direction and acting. Comedy movies of the 90′s were less gross then comedy movies of the 2000′s. However, I am no one to judge because some of the top comedy movies listed below have been highest grossing movies of all time. So let’s begin.

Bridget Jones Diary, 2001
Directors may be hesitant to cast Renee Zellweger in pivotal roles, but she was the main reason Bridget Jones Diary became a blockbuster. It’s one of the best comedy movies in which Zellweger effortlessly charmed critics and audiences by putting on 20 pounds. It’s a story of a British singleton who falls in love with first with Hugh Grant and Colin Firth later. From her bad public speeches to listening of sad F.M radio songs in her pajamas. Zellweger carries one of the top comedy movies of the decade on her shoulders.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 2004
Charlie Kaufman redefines romantic comedies. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet play a couple who break up and want to erase each others memories. The problem arises when Carrey again relives those memories, he finds out that their loves is much more than the jealousy, bickering and insecurity. One of the top comedy movies of the decade, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is inventive, humorous and aching at the same time.

The 40 Year-Old Virgin, 2005
Judd Apatow has emerged one of the top comedy makers this decade. His first movie the 40 Year-Old Virgin, is a big, goofy, hilarious mess that has made its place into the hearts of movie fans. Steve Carell and Catherine Keener play the main leads. This no nonsense romance is a total fun package with an outrageous premise and lewd jokes which makes it one of the best comedy movies of all time.

Juno, 2007
Juno is always regarded as a serious drama film, but if you ask me I think it’s one of the best comedy films of the decade. The heart of Juno’s story is Ellen Page and her sarcasm. The film deals with a teen pregnancy in a slight realistic and humorous way. It takes pregnancy for her to realize the man of her dreams is always in yellow shorts and is a runner.

Wall-E, 2008
Before you think it’s a science fiction documentary. Let’s focus on the plot of Wall-E for a second; lonely boy meets girl, falls in love and travels everywhere in the universe to be with her. It’s a romantic comedy with space. Of course you should know that both the boy and girl are robots. There’s no dialog and its animated. When Wall-E (the lonely boy) and Eve (the girl) dance together amongst the stars, you witness a comedy with an element of romance in it.

The Hangover, 2009
Hangover was a low budget movie made with four actors who were not so well known. However, after release this movie grossed USD 275 million at domestic box office and now is considered as a cult comedy. Let’s not see just the numbers, “The Hangover” had no built in audience, no stars, no ride to associate with it, no comic book adaption, no fancy actresses. It just had a funny storyline and some solid actors which puts this movies at #1 spot of the top comedy movies of the decade list. This is usually the type of movie that falls flat with the critics but that didn’t happened. It was equally praised by critics and audiences both.

Cop Out, 2010
One of the top comedy movies 2010, this laughter riot was directed by Kevin Smith. He took a chance of making a cop comedy with Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan. Its a story of two veteran police officers who are tracking down a stolen baseball card passing through the world of gangsters and money laundering. It was panned by critics, but is a delight to watch on a rainy weekend.

Welcome to your guide to Pregnancy – Week 6.

At this point in your pregnancy, your little one is measured crown to rump as their legs are forming close to the body and will not straighten out for several more weeks.   Your baby measures about the size of the head of a  push pin tack!  eyes, ears, cheeks and chin are all taking shape.  If you were to look inside and take a peek your baby is starting to look somewhat human…but maybe a little more alien at this point.  Not to worry, that is what the next 34 weeks are for! 

Your baby’s teeny, tiny heart is beating and getting faster and faster everyday.  At 6 weeks, the embryo heart beats about 80 times per minute.  Your doctor might be able to see it flutter with the use of an ultrasound.

All pregnancies are different.  You may experience all of the symptoms and then some or you may experience only a handful to none.  Just keep in mind that your pregnancy is unique to your body.  Some of your symptoms may have carried over from last week and/or some new ones may have appeared.

Some of the symptoms you may be experiencing are:

• Aversions to smells and food…or you may be craving foods that you never thought twice about
• White vaginal discharge
• Bloating and flatulence.  Many women mistake this for “showing” but unfortunately it is more likely that you are bloated
• Excess saliva
• nausea – with or without vomiting
• Fatigue and/or lack of motivation
• PMS-like symptoms such as weepiness, mood swings and irritability
• Disbelief that there is actually a baby growing in your body

Depending on your doctor, many women will have their first prenatal appointment between 6-8 weeks.  The first prenatal appointment is typically the longest appointment.  Your doctor will perform a complete health history for you, your significant other and family histories for both.  Your doctor will go over any prior medical problems, previous pregnancies and current conditions.  Be sure to inform your doctor about any medications or supplements you currently are taking – including herbal and holistic supplements and vitamins.  Typically your doctor will perform a pelvic exam and Pap smear.  Your doctor might schedule an ultrasound to date your pregnancy, especially, if you are not sure of when your last menstrual period was.

As mentioned in our previous weekly articles, avoid alcohol, drugs and smoking.  This is a critical time in your baby’s development and none of the above is worth risking the life and well-being to your unborn child or to you.

Have you told anyone about your pregnancy?  It is such a life-changing event that it can be incredibly hard to keep it a secret!  You may want to shout it out to the world right away.  Or, you may feel like holding onto your juicy little secret a little while longer.  Miscarriage is often in the back of your worrisome mind, and many people chose to keep it a secret until the chances of miscarriage subside.  Our advice, share the news with anyone you would feel comfortable (and need) telling them about a miscarriage too.  Close family and friends can be a huge support system in the event that the pregnancy becomes unviable.  What should you do…do what feels right to you and your significant other.

Early pregnancy symptom – Know the Indicators

Any woman trying to get pregnant just cannot bear to wait patiently to find out if she has achieved her objective. She wants to find out sooner than later if she is pregnant. Your body is an excellent indicator of early pregnancy symptoms. It is very important to monitor your body very carefully and be alert to even the minutest of the changes within. Though no two pregnancies are the same, some women may experience early pregnancy symptoms within just a few days of conception, while others may have no body changes till about a few weeks of conception.

Early sign of pregnancy
Monitor your body carefully to recognize early pregnancy symptoms. Advancing pregnancy week by week, gives rise to many changes in the body, both internally as well as externally. Some changes are:
nausea: morning sickness or frequent vomiting occurs very early in the pregnancy. Many women mistake it for food poisoning or stomach disorder.

Heartburn: Indigestion, acidity and heartburn are also early pregnancy symptoms and stay till late stages of pregnancy.

Enhanced sense of smell and taste: Lots of women become very sensitive to the taste and smell of common food items. Those items trigger nausea.

Dizziness and fainting: Enhanced smells, taste and nausea make many women avoid food and skip meals. This results in low blood sugar level and dizzy spells or fainting.

Constipation: Lack of proper diet and slow metabolism during pregnancy results in frequent constipation.

Frequent urination: This happens as early as first week of pregnancy due to the pressure of growing uterus on the urinary bladder.

Tiredness: Exhaustion and tiredness are the common symptoms of pregnancy in first trimester.

Enlarged nipples and tender breasts: As the body prepares itself for breastfeeding, the nipples enlarge and breasts become swollen, tender and sore to touch during early pregnancy.

Spotting: Some women may experience some light bleeding or spotting 8-10 days after ovulation, coinciding with the date of next due period.

Missed period: This is the clinical, classic early pregnancy symptom. Some women may experience cramping and low back pain as just before the arrival of periods feeling without any signs of bleeding.

Irritability: Nausea, tiredness, cramps, backache, enhanced smells and fluctuating hormones make many pregnant women extremely irritable.

Change in complexion: The raging hormones cause skin spotting, acne or other complexion changes in the first trimester of the pregnancy.

weight loss: Many women lose weight during early pregnancy due to food fetishes. One must eat healthy foods at frequent intervals to maintain the nutrient level of the body.

Watch out for these early pregnancy symptoms and try to remain active and healthy for these nine months.
